The Friends of the Swannanoa Library presents the 6th annual “Groovin’ on Grovemont!” concert series. The series is free and open to the public, and takes place in Grovemont Park, adjacent to the Swannanoa Library (101 W. Charleston Ave), in Swannanoa, NC. Click here for a map! The Summer 2008 entertainment schedule is as follows: June 24 - Tuesday - 6:00pm The Red Wellies Traditional Irish Music. ![]() Based in Asheville, NC, The Red Wellies are a straight-up Irish traditional trio that illustrates how good music can span not only continents but generations. Fiddlers Claudine "Beanie" Odell and Duncan Wickel, aunt and nephew, have been playing Irish music together for more than a dozen years, since Duncan was six. The third leg of The Red Wellies is bouzouki player Vincent Fogarty, a native of Tipperary steeped in the influence of Doolin, County Clare, who has lived in Asheville for nearly a decade. Impeccable rhythm, an ear for gorgeous melodies, and a knack for tasty improvisations weave the talents of these three individuals together in a seamless, joyful blend of traditional music. . July 8- Tuesday - 6:00pm The Vince Junior Trio - Swamp and Roll. ![]() Vince Junior puts guitar, voice and words together to make a sound so unique, yet warmly familiar. His strong, rich voice coupled with his aggressive acoustic guitar and slide guitar playing make for a sound that is quite unlike any of the recent singer/songwriters on the circuit. July 22 - Tuesday - 6:00pm Appalachia Song - Sweet Harmony & Mountain Melodies. ![]() A versatile and talented group of performers who bring the diverse music of not only the mountains, but America itself, to life. Sharing over one hundred and twenty years of combined experience performing a broad variety of music, This group is unique in it's warm vocal harmonies, it's solid delivery of instrumentals, and it's wealth of songs. The event focuses on family fun. Bring a picnic, frisbee, blanket/chairs; food also available for sale.
